Corgi homeplan heats up industry with £6.4 million of summer work

The summer months may be traditionally quiet for heating engineers - but CORGI HomePlan has revealed just how busy its network of 5,000 engineers has been.

The boiler and home emergency insurer has revealed that the value of servicing and breakdown jobs carried out by its engineer network from May to September was£6.4million*.

This is a vital boost to the thousands of independent businesses who make up the CORGI HomePlan network as they have guaranteed levels of work throughout the year.

CORGI HomePlan - founded in 2011 - is also keeping its engineers busier each year as more customers come on board, with the 2016 summer work levels 42 per cent higher than those in 2013.

APHC questions fesibility of ofqual plans for development of vocational qualifications

APHC has expressed doubts about the feasibility of plans for the development of vocational qualifications, following a speech made by Phil Beach CBE in collaboration with Ofqual last week. Speaking at the GovNet Skills and Employability Summit, Mr Beach discussed the development of vocational qualifications and assessments, suggesting how trust in them might be maintained in a period of reform.

Mr Beach begun his speech by detailing the many changes occurring in the vocational qualifications sector, in particular the Post-16 Skills Plan which has been designed to provide 16-19 year olds with valued routes into the workplace and the new trailblazer apprenticeship standards.
