BC Designs and Bayswater London W2 secures deal with The IPG

BC Designs and Bayswater London W2 have become the latest manufacturers to join The IPG; the UK’s largest and fastest growing membership group of independent plumbing, heating and bathroom specialists.

The IPG was founded on the belief that independent merchants should have a better voice in today’s market, and a better opportunity to compete with the generic chain stores and companies dominating the market.

The move will see independent merchants being able to purchase the companies’ products, along with access to marketing materials and distribution channels to better support their business.

Engineering for water efficient homes

Engineering for water efficient homes
Article written by: Phil Allen, Senior Floor Risk Consultant, Thomasons

The measures that housebuilders can take to save water are twofold: use alternative sources of water and introduce water-efficient devices within the home.

Firstly, there is rainwater harvesting in the form of water butts and below-ground storage tanks. These provide an alternative water source to mains water. Recycled rainwater can have numerous uses around the home, such as flushing toilets, use in washing machines or simply watering the garden. By incorporating some treatment into the rainwater harvesting and recycling system, it can be used for a range of clean water activities as well.

Bitter temperatures are set to roll in as the MET Office warn another Beast from the East could be on its way.

This could see the country grind to a halt under another blanket of heavy snow and ice but for van drivers it is not just their daily commutes that are affected.

No-deal Brexit could cost family-owned insulation manufacturer up to £85,000 per year

Brexit Superfoil MD William Bown and a colleague on site

Family owned insulation manufacturer, SuperFOIL Insulation estimates that a no-deal Brexit could cost it £45,000 to £85,000+ per year.

SuperFOIL’s estimate is based on a report published by HM Treasury at the end of 2018 which calculated that a no-deal Brexit could make the UK’s economy 9.3 percent smaller over 15 years.

The analysis also shows that the impact for manufacturers in a no-deal scenario would be the equivalent to, on average, 9 to 17 percent of the value of EU trade compared to today’s arrangements.
